Raised For A Time Like This, Perhaps?

Queen Esther said to Mordecai her uncle, at a time when her people were scheduled by royal decree for extermination, “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”
If you are a Christian person of position and influence, of access and connection to power, know this: Your brothers and sisters in the faith have prayed and fasted for you and are still ready to do so! We have counted on you, believing that God has placed you where you are today for a purpose other than you and yourself. But if you continue to love your personal interests above the interests of the Kingdom and above the lives of your people; if you continue to ignore or deny the reality of the present onslaught against the Church of Jesus Christ in Nigeria, calling it by whatever extenuating name suits you; if you continue to wine and dine with the sponsors of bloodshed and destruction against your own people, making excuses for them and helping them to advance their schemes against the Church: Shame on you!
Or, go on, Ostrich: bury your head in the sand, and imagine that this danger doesn’t really exist! You are so safe where you are in Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt or wherever else. What have the killings and destruction in some distant village got to do with you? Agatu is so far away, and Bokkos sounds like some fairytale name! Besides, weren’t those incidences tagged mere communal clashes? And what do you care about cattle colony plans for Fulanis and the ancestral lands that must be grabbed around the country to facilitate them? And if governmental structures have been doctored to reflect a largely anti-Christian composition, what does that really matter? If the best hands available for running critical sectors of your country happen to be mostly Muslims and Fulanis, how is that a problem? You are so liberal and open-minded! Congratulations!
But, tomorrow…?
Again, I say, like Mordecai said to Esther, who knows but that God has put you in your present position for a time like this? Yes, we will continue to pray and fast, but will you (Legislator, Public Figure, Politician, General Overseer, Celebrity, Legal Luminary – all with influence, power, access and clout) do what you have been positioned to do? Or will you continue to mind your ‘business’?
